Slatebase started as a genuine frustration: managing a handful of UK rental properties meant compliance certificates buried in an inbox, rent tracked in a spreadsheet that drifted out of date, tenant conversations scattered across email and text, and a January scramble every year to reconstruct a year of finances for self-assessment.
Every "property management" tool we looked at was either a basic spreadsheet template dressed up as software, or built for large letting agencies managing hundreds of units on behalf of other people — expensive, complex, and full of features an individual landlord will never touch.
So we built Slatebase around the actual shape of a landlord's week: compliance that chases you automatically instead of the other way round, legal documents that stay current with UK housing law, finances that map straight onto a UK tax return, and a proper channel for tenants and contractors instead of a text thread you'll never find again.
Who's behind it
Slatebase is built and operated by RJP Group Ltd, a UK company. We're a small, hands-on team — which means when you contact support, you're talking to the people who actually built the product, not a call centre reading from a script.
What we're building toward
This isn't a finished product we're leaving alone. Every feature in Slatebase so far — from compliance tracking to e-signature to tenant referencing — came from a real gap landlords told us about, including ourselves. We're actively building SMS and WhatsApp alerts, deeper investment reporting, and tools for letting agents managing portfolios on behalf of landlords.
